personal bible found
DORIS SYKES had a family bible given to her by her daughter for Christmas 1973...so says the inscription on the presentation page. Other family members are recorded on the inside cover.
This bible was in a box of items given to me by a friend who could not remeber how she came to having it and wondered if perhaps I might offer it back to a member of the original family.
One more hint as to the owner on the inside cover is written, "For Charlene from Grandma Sykes, Oct. 13, 1983.
If this belongs to your family I'd be most happy to provide it to you, just give me some identifying names.

Onesime Morin, Edmonton 1896
Can anyone tell me where he is buried?
Benson Times 29 September 1896
A letter was received last Thursday by father Oster from a priest in Alberta, Canada, where O. Morin, the large farmer north of town, has been working for some months past, stating that he had died of inflammation of the bowels on the 14th inst., and that he had been buried there on the 16th. He had been washing gold there for a couple of months, but owning to the low water had not been able to to do much until lately and it may be possible that inasmuch as he had been idle for some time, he overdid himself or took cold in the water and brought on his sickness, as he was known to be a hard worker, and had also been troubled with this complaint several times in the past. This will be a surprise to the community, as the sad news was to his family, who did even know that he had been sick until informed of his death and burial by Father Oster.
