Greetings. My grandfather arrived in Canada in 1922 and had registered to stay with M. Kurtzberg in Camrose, who is mentioned in A light into the past: a history of Camrose, 1905 - 1980 on Page 178. Ironically my relatives (Shapiros) never went there, but stayed in Calgary. Do you have the page referring to Kurtzberg? Another person in the same area was Woolf Perel. Thanks.

Seeking death record/obituary/cemetery for W.H.Cross, approx. 1919-1929, in Edmonton.
He was the farmer who adopted my father, J. Reg Ash, a Barnardo boy (orphan) from England and raised him through his teen years in Beeton, Ont.
My father was a journalist for the Edmonton Journal, and probably came to Edmonton with Mr. Cross, who was a farmer. I am curious what brought them to Edmonton.

Nelson, Solomonson, 1899
I'm looking for descendants of Mr. Gus Nelson born in Sweden 25 feb,1871, Hulu, Bosebo parish, J?nk?pings l?n, and came to Alberta 1899 and settled in the Burnt Lake District. He married Margaret Bergstrom also from Sweden in 1902-03. They had nine children; Anna Matina, Gregor, Gerda Maria, Ida Margaret,Signie Adelle, George Rudolph, Dagney Rosina, Gustof Adolph and John Frederick.
I think it is possible that Gus originally had patronymicon Salomonson but upon arrival to N.America used his father's surname Nilsson. Gus wrote a few letters to a niece in Sweden (H?cksvik or V?thult) Ida Sofia M?rtensson.
If anyone knows anything about Gus and if he changed his name to Nelson then I have the right person.
I know that Gus j:r and Fred served in WW II and Gus was captured in Dieppe but escaped.
If this is the family I'm looking for Gus Nelson was an uncle of my paternal grandfather. Gus father's name was Salomon Nilsson.
Gus had three siblings in Sweden, Edvard, Axel and Ida Sofia. Axel went together to N.America with Gustaf in 1892, Ellis Island, NY may 9,1892 with steamer "SERVIA" from Liverpool.
