GIBSON, Helena Victoria

This is a bucket list item for me. I have never seen a photo of this lady, she is my grandmother. Her maiden name was Shepard and she married John A Gibson in Lambton county Ontario in 1885. They lived in Strathroy and had 8 children. By about 1906 they were all in Alberta. Helena and girls lived in Edmonton and John and some of the boys lived on a large farm near Westlock AB. The oldest son was Maynard, married to Lena Edgson and they farmed in the Clyde AB area. They left Clyde in the late 1930s and moved to Fairview AB. Their descendants may be my last hope of finding a photo. Helena died in 1916 and is interred in London ON. John died in 1938 and is interred at Clyde. I may be the last grandchild still living although cant be sure since the family was somewhat fractured. I left Canada over 50 years ago. If any one can help I would be eternally grateful. My email is tvgib@yahoo.com.

Father's family

My father William Fred Snyder(?) was born either in 1903 or 04 either in Calgary or Bruderheim to Fred Snyder/Elsie Donough.(sp) He came to the US in Sept 1923 to St Paul Mn and was with a brother George. Previously he had been to the state of Washington in 1921 probably to visit a relative. His occupation was listed as farmer and he was of German descent. After many years of searching for my grand parents have absolutely turned up nothing. He could have changed his name or lied about his information but this is all I have to go on. Any help would be appreciated.

further to yesterday's query...

...about settlement in Drumheller. Many of the children of my grandmother's first marriage moved to Edmonton or Beverly as did my grandmother and her second husband John Kishkan -- my grandparents. So the names I'm curious about are Yopek and Kishkan.

Searching for info on my Grandmother

OEDBAUER, PONOKA, 1960'S - My Grandmother, DORA (HAYDAMACK) OEDBAUER, died at Alberta Hospital Ponoka around 1967-1969. I've tried connecting with Dora's (Haydamack) relatives in Canada with no luck. I believe she is buried next to my Grandfather, John William Oedbauer, in Lakeview Cemetery near Stettler, Canada, but I can't say for sure. I've been researching for years to gain any information about my Grandmother Dora. If anyone can shed some light for me, I am so thankful! Patricia

Section 11 Township 29 Range 20 Meridian 4

An online database lists this as a homestead taken out by Joseph Yopek but it seems that the lot was School Land in Drumheller and became for a time -- 1913 -4 until at least 1917 -- a squatter settlement. Does anyone know anything more about this land and those who lived there? (My grandmother's first husband was Joseph Yopek and I think she joined him there in 1913.)

Mable Jamieson (nee Baker, formerly Curphy)

I am looking for any information about my great-grandmother, Mable Jamieson. She came from the Isle of Wight in Ireland, to Glasgow, Scotland then landed in Quebec in 1892 (approximately). Her last name was originally Curphy but she adopted by a family named Baker when she arrived in Canada. She was born in around 1887-88 and married Edward Johnson. They had two children, Annie Ruth Johnson and Don Johnson.

looking for fathers birth certificate who may have been adopted.

Hi my name is Gordon Roulette. I have been trying to find out if our father Alex, was / may have been adopted by Antoine Roulette and Marie Richard. He was born around 1907 and may have a sister named Catherine. They may have lived in Sandy Bay Mb. on an Indian Reserve. I have searched many areas and have not found anything that would confirm who his parents were and if he went to school or if he had a birth certificate. He passed without knowing how old he was and who his biological parents were.I have had a DNA test completed with no results. If anyone can help my family find anything that would confirm, who his parents were / are. we would really apprciate it. Thanks you very much.
