NICHOLS, WINFIELD, 1934+ I am in the search of findings the siblings of my husbands birth family, the late Fred & Elizabeth Hazel Nichols. There were 4 children in this family and they were split up when their mother died. The father had abandoned the family earlier. There were two sons and two daughters being Mary, (born abt 1918-1920), Ellen, (born abt. 1922), Arthur, (born abt. 1924 to 1929), and then Stanley (born Dec. 1931). The whereabouts of Mary, Ellen or Arthur are unknown at this time. Stanley was adopted by a Mrs. Mary Marshall in 1934 and thus is now known as Stanley Marshall. Stanley did have contact with his sister Mary about 20 years ago and has since lost contact with her. If you should know about any member of this family or their offspring, please feel free to contact me via e-mail.

My husband never met him, nor does he recall any mention of him. 1. Are burials in the Leduc cemeteries available online, and if so how can I access them? 2. Is there a Leduc genealogy or local history group, and if so, how can I contact it? 3. If there isn’t a Leduc group, can anyone advise me as to what sources in Leduc I can search, and 4. Is there anyone who would be willing to do some look-ups for me? As I live in England carrying out much of this research myself is not possible. I look forward to hearing from members. Raftus, Edmonton, 1955 i am looking for my birth grandmother. My mother was born on Feb. 5, 1955 at Misericordia Hospital and adopted from the hospital to Eva Raftus and Allan Raftus in Jasper, Alberta. Her name was Catherine Louise Raftus and was born with a patch of hair at the base of her spine. The story is that my birth grandmother was from P.E.I. and met up with an Irish businessman while working in Montreal. How she ended up in Edmonton to have the baby is still a mystery. Apparently the adoption was arranged by a church (name unknown). My mother claimed that her birth mother was named Barbera (not confirmed) and was native (Cree), and her father was Scottish. My grandmother said the birth mom was French and father Irish. Both grandparents and my mother are deceased. I am looking for family history, medical history and information about native roots. BOJKO, MADELINE,(lENA) EDMONTON, ALBERTA 1949 I am searching for Madeline Bojko or anyone who may of known her. She was born in Poland and is about 76 years old now. Bojko was her maiden name in 1949. She was from Poland lived in Edmonton in 1949. She had 1 brother age 11 at the time as well as a sister age 5 at the time. Her parents at the time were both living and possibly owned a store. She gave birth to a girl on March 24th/1949. She was born at the Miscerdoria hospital downtown. She may have not told anyone about this birth. It looked like she moved away around 1950. She was a seamstress had a grade 7 techical education in Poland. The father of this girl was from romania. He had a university education and was a sectary at the time. It is not known if he ever even knew about this birth. She ws baptized on March 27th 1949 at the hospital she was born. You may read this and maybe you are the sister or the brother who would probably be about 60 to 67 years old. I am not here to cause any problems but would really like to know more about where my real family is? She may have also gotten married had other children and if this is you reading this please do not hestitate to write me a email. I have two children who are in there 30year. It also said on my adoption forms that Madeline was a very beautiful lady. I do respect her privacy and I do understand that maybe it was really a hard time for her that she could not take care of a child. I know women who had children in the 40/s was a real no no at the time so she may of keep this completely to herself. So if you may be her sister or her daughter or son or even if you know of my father who came from romania and was a sectary I sure would like to her from him. If you are a relative please understand I only want to find my roots so that I can also have a area of my life that never seemed fulfull to come to a closure so that I know that I also have a family out there. The lady that adopted me was a very old person and so I really didn’t have a mother for a real long time since she passed away some 30 years ago. She was wonderful lady and will love her for want she did for me. So I would appreciate that if you know anything to please contact me at brian@telus.net. Thank you so much June PS She may of also be know as Lena for short since my baptize certicate said Lena for the mothers name. But my adopted mother told me her name was madeline.

Montour, Southern Alberta – Saskatchewan, 1901 I am trying to do my Family History and have hit upon a snag. I know who my Great Grandparents were John and Margarette (margaret) Laframboise. But the problem is my Grandparents. Isadore and Marie Montour (Nee Laframboise). I believe I know they had 14 children, my Mother Elsie Elizabeth being one of them. I believe she was born late in my grandmother’s life and may have been one of the last children. My mother married Egon Jensen and they then had six children together and I am the last one. Due to many family problems involving alcoholism and abuse, my family was involved with Alberta Social Services. I do know my siblings and am trying to get in touch with them, but am unsure what info they can shed on this matter. If anyone has info on my Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents, please contact me at blhatt@telusplanet.net. Thanks Brenda

I am looking for a Lorraine (Marie)Decalver. She was a waitress at a Hotel in Edmonton, probably late 1930s then went to Winnipeg. There was a Marie Decalver who according to the Henderson Directory who worked at the Salisbury house. Lorraine Decalver according to the Henderson Directory then worked at the Misericordia hospital as a switchboard operator. It was during this time she lived on Sherbrook Street at the Nurses residence while in confinment. She delivered me on April 1, 1941.I was born Mildred Eileen Decalver. She was said to be an attractive blond, with blue eyes, and about 5’4″ and could have been in her teens. She was French/Norweigen ancestry, Canadian born. There are not that many Decalvers to date that I have found. There are some non responsive Decalvers on Vancouver Island, but this is the closest I have come. She might have followed the Jewish religion, but allowed me by adoption to be baptised Roman Catholic in 1947. I have a line of Hiking Vikings that would like to know our origin. If you have any information, please contact me. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Laurine Whitfill SlyFoxisback@Aol.com
