This database of over 800,000 names, consists mainly of Alberta cemetery burials.
Edmonton Journal Obituaries 1950-1982
Search an index compiled by the Edmonton Public Library to locate the date on which an obituary was published in the Edmonton Journal. Note that our index coverage is from January 1950 to December 1982.
Alberta Genealogical Society Library Catalogue – Online Search
The Society maintains a lending library of genealogical handbooks, reference books, family and local histories, genealogical periodicals, and publications from other similar societies worldwide.

Alberta Homestead Records
The Alberta Genealogical Society created an all name index to help locate Alberta homestead files. Search the database by name or land location to find a microfilm and file number. The files can then be copied from microfilm held at the Provincial Archives of Alberta (PAA) in Edmonton or copies ordered from the Alberta Genealogical Society.
Alberta Probate Indexes
Alberta Probate/Surrogate Court records housed at the Provincial Archives of Alberta (PAA) are being indexed by PAA and Edmonton Branch, AGS volunteers. This is an ongoing project and more indexes will be made available as each court accession is completed.

Alberta Birth Marriage and Death Registrations 1870 – 1905
Original registrations for this period of time are located at the Provincial Archives of Alberta (PAA). An ‘every name’ index of the original registrations held at the PAA has been published. All details transcribed from these registrations are held on index cards at our library.
1901 Census – Indian Agencies (Alberta District), Unorganized Territories (Athabasca Region), Alberta District, West Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, East Assiniboia
An ‘every name’ data base for these districts is complete and details from the actual census film will be provided.
Charles D Denney Research Papers
Our library holds a photocopy of the original collection housed at the Glenbow Museum. The collection contains information about the Selkirk settlers, Metis and fur trading families of western Canada.
Edmonton Journal Clippings File (1972 – 1981)
Notices of births, engagements, marriages, obituaries, memorials, legal notices etc. were extracted from the Edmonton Journal and are on an alphabetical card file.
